Chapati is a South Asian flatbread with no yeast, just flour and water. It is easy to make and takes just minutes. We use chapati for making pizzas and wraps or served with kichari, or with a hearty soup. On its own too, spread with ghee or drizzled with honey makes for a satisfying snack!
Yields: 6 chapatis
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
ingredients
1 ¼ cups + 2 tsps more all-purpose einkorn flour, or all-purpose flour
¼ tsp salt (optional)
⅓ cup water
1 tsp olive oil (optional)
Ghee or olive oil for cooking
INSTRUCTIONS
Combine flour and salt, if using, in a bowl.
Add water and olive oil, if using, and knead to make a soft dough.
Divide dough into pieces, but keep dough covered with a damp towel as each chapati is rolled out. Flour the surface when rolling out the dough.
Cook each chapati on a small hot pan on medium-high with a bit of ghee or olive oil.
